Welcome
to Littlehampton Harbour
Littlehampton is a small South Coast port situated at the mouth of the River Arun mid-way between Selsey Bill and Shoreham. Despite its strong tides and harbour bar, the harbour provides good shelter for the visiting yachtsmen within close proximity of all the town's amenities. A warm welcome is also assured.
There are excellent sandy beaches either side of the entrance, traditional resort attractions including a fun fair and amusements to the east and an unspoiled stretch to the West which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are good road and rail communications and the historic town of Arundel, which is just five miles upriver, is accessible either by land or by small boat. For those who appreciate the less formal regime of large marinas, Littlehampton is well worth a visit.
Visitor berths are found on Town Quay, on the east bank of the river, adjacent to the harbour office. A limited number of berths are also sometimes available for bilge keel boats on the moorings owned by Arun Yacht Club. These are situated opposite the Harbour Office. Speed should be kept low to preclude excessive wash. Maximum speed 6 and a half knots. |
